The renovation project, which began in 2022, involved the restoration of the concrete structure, replacement of the wooden railings, and repainting the beloved Snoopy and his dog house. The bridge also received new landscaping and lighting to enhance its appearance and safety. “This bridge is not just a transportation route, it’s a symbol of our community,” said Councilmember Bob Blumenfield, who represents the area. “I’m thrilled that we’ve been able to restore it to its former glory and ensure it remains a cherished landmark for generations to come.” The Snoopy Bridge was originally built in 1970 and was designed by architect Frank Gehry. The sculptures of Snoopy and his dog house were added in 1977, becoming an instantly recognizable part of the Tarzana landscape. The renovation project was funded by the city of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Department of Transportation.
