Police responded to a call of a shooting at the Extended Stay America hotel on Alta Vista Road around 10:15 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. Paramedics attempted to resuscitate the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have identified the victim as 32-year-old Michael Martinez. According to police, Martinez was involved in an argument with another individual in the hotel room when the shooting occurred. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. “We are still investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident and working to identify the suspect,” said Fort Worth Police Department spokesperson Officer Daniel Segura. Hotel guests reported hearing a gunshot and commotion coming from the room where the shooting took place. “It was really scary,” said guest Sarah Smith. “I heard a loud bang and then people screaming.
