Springfield, Missouri – A local man has been charged with driving under the influence (DUI) after he was found slumped over the wheel of his vehicle on Wednesday evening. According to a police report, officers responded to a call around 9:30 p.m. regarding a man who was unresponsive behind the wheel of a parked car. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect, identified as 40-year-old John Smith, slumped over and unresponsive. Officers attempted to awaken Smith, but he did not respond. They then broke the window of the vehicle and removed him from the driver’s seat. Smith exhibited signs of impairment, including slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Smith was transported to a local hospital, where he underwent a breathalyzer test. The test results indicated that his blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was over the legal limit of 0.08%. Smith has been charged with DUI, careless and imprudent driving, and obstructing governmental operations. He is scheduled to appear in court next week. On March 28th, Springfield Police Department officers responded to a call about a man slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle at 67 River Street. Patrol Officers Singleton and Guzzo arrived on the scene at 12:01 a.m. Upon examining the driver, identified as Patrick Richardson, officers determined that he was unresponsive. A subsequent blood test conducted by the Vermont Forensic Laboratory revealed that Richardson was under the influence of drugs. As a result, Richardson was issued a criminal summons to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on July 30th to face charges of driving under the influence of drugs.A Springfield man was charged with driving under the influence after he was found slumped over the wheel of his car. Police were called to the scene of a possible overdose on Monday night and found the man unconscious in his car, which was parked in the middle of the road. Officers administered Narcan, an overdose-reversal drug, and the man regained consciousness. He was taken to Springfield Hospital for evaluation. The man was later charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He was also cited for several other traffic violations.
