Columbia, SC (March 26, 2024) – For the first time, a Columbia-area restaurant has been honored with a prestigious James Beard Award. Lula Drake Wine Parlour, located on Main Street in downtown Columbia, received the Outstanding Wine and Other Beverages honor at the James Beard Awards ceremony in Chicago on Monday evening. Tim Gardner, owner of Lula Drake Wine Parlour, was among two James Beard finalists from the Midlands in the running for the award. Robbie Robinson of City Limit Barbeque in West Columbia was also nominated for Best Chef – Southeast. The James Beard Foundation Awards were established in 1990 and recognize leaders in the culinary industry and food media. The Outstanding Wine and Other Beverages Program award is given to establishments that “demonstrate exceptional care and skill in pairing wine and other beverages with food while making a positive contribution to the broader community.” Lula Drake Wine Parlour has become renowned for its unique and curated wine offerings.
