Nashville’s Honky Tonk Highway Closed for Pothole PatchingNashville’s Honky Tonk Highway Closed for Pothole Patching Music City’s legendary Honky Tonk Highway has been temporarily closed to traffic for emergency pothole patching. The closure, which began early this morning, is causing significant traffic delays in the downtown area. The pothole-ridden stretch of Broadway, known as Honky Tonk Highway, is home to dozens of iconic country music bars and entertainment venues. Motorists and tourists alike are urged to avoid the area or seek alternate routes. According to the Nashville Department of Transportation (NDOT), the closure is expected to last for several hours while crews work to repair the damaged road surface. “Safety is our top priority,” said NDOT spokesperson Brittany Quinlan. “We understand the inconvenience this closure may cause, but we urge everyone to cooperate with traffic authorities and follow posted detours.” The closure has disrupted daily operations for businesses along Honky Tonk Highway. “This is a major blow to our business,” said Lisa Hayes, owner of the Wildhorse Saloon. “We rely heavily on foot traffic from tourists and locals, and this closure is keeping them away.” However, some business owners expressed optimism that the closure will ultimately benefit the area. “In the long run, I believe this will improve the infrastructure of Honky Tonk Highway and make it a more enjoyable and safe experience for visitors,” said Ryan Smith, owner of Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge. The closure is also affecting public transportation. Several Metro bus routes have been rerouted to avoid the impacted area. Riders are advised to check with Nashville MTA for updated schedules and detours. Motorists should be aware of the following detours during the closure: * Northbound traffic on Broadway will be detoured to 4th Avenue North. * Southbound traffic on Broadway will be detoured to 2nd Avenue North. * Eastbound traffic on Demonbreun Street will be detoured to 5th Avenue North. * Westbound traffic on Demonbreun Street will be detoured to 4th Avenue South. The NDOT estimates that the pothole patching will be completed by early afternoon. However, motorists are advised to check for updates and allow for additional travel time.
