But either way, you’re just a 40-minute drive away from swapping the city for a treehouse cafe at the top of the highest peak. Offering a perfect blend of modern beach bars and ancient Stone Age ruins, Limassol has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years. It is now the second-largest urban area in Cyprus, after the capital Nicosia, and attracts almost four million tourists annually. One of the most iconic landmarks in Limassol is the aptly named City of Dreams Mediterranean hotel. It is an architectural masterpiece that is instantly recognizable on the city skyline. Upon seeing this five-star resort, my first impression was that it felt like a city within a city—and further exploration proved that to be true. Without going into every detail, the City of Dreams Mediterranean hotel boasts eight dining options, a family adventure park, an amphitheater, a casino, designer shops, a spa, and four outdoor pools, which claim to be the largest aquatic complex on the island. The hotel’s 500 luxurious rooms and suites enhance the serenity of the location, embracing the relaxing and picturesque surroundings with elegant interiors and balconies offering postcard-worthy views of Limassol. The food at the City of Dreams Mediterranean hotel is undoubtedly one of its highlights. There’s Anaïs, Europe’s first French Gastro Club, where you can indulge in hors d’oeuvres while fire dancers perform extravagantly beside you. It can be a bit overwhelming for some to have so much at their disposal, but for others, it’s a mecca waiting to be explored.
