Brown’s car was pulling out of a driveway onto Center Street when the impact occurred. The collision sent Brown’s car into an eastbound truck driven by 53-year-old James McGinnis of Marion. Fatal Injuries Sadly, Showalter was pronounced dead at the scene. Two children, aged 2 and 7, were accompanying Showalter at the time. The 2-year-old sustained minor injuries, while the 7-year-old remained unharmed. Minor Injuries and Treatment Brown and a passenger in her vehicle were transported to Marion General Hospital with minor injuries. McGinnis was not injured. A pedestrian was killed late Monday morning in Marion after being hit by a vehicle.

According to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Marion Post, 72-year-old Linda Showalter of Belleville was walking on the sidewalk when a car driven by 85-year-old Sandra Brown of Marion pulled out of a driveway onto Center Street, hitting her.

Showalter and Brown’s car was then struck by an eastbound truck driven by 53-year-old James McGinnis of Marion.

Showalter was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 2-year-old and a 7-year-old were with Showalter at the time of the crash. The 2-year-old suffered minor injuries and the 7-year-old was not injured.

Brown and a passenger in her vehicle were taken to Marion General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

McGinnis was not injured.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
