A woman has died after a collision between a car and a truck in County Waterford.

It happened this morning just after 9am on the N25 at Garranbane, near Dungarvan.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 70s, was treated at the scene by emergency services, but later died.

The truck driver was taken to Waterford University Hospital where he is being treated for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The road remains closed and an investigation is underway by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are also in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users with camera footage (including dashcam footage) who were driving in the area at the time of the collision are requested to make this footage available to the Gardaí.

The woman is the 100th victim to die on Irish roads this year.
