Free Health Insurance for Ibadan ResidentsFree Health Insurance for Ibadan Residents Over 1,000 residents of Oke-Are in Ibadan, Oyo State, have benefited from the free Health Insurance Scheme (HIS) provided by George Aid Foundation (GAF) of Nigeria. The initiative is supported by the Rotary Club of Ibadan Metro. The medical outreach, held at Oke-Are Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC), provided comprehensive healthcare services including free dental exams, medical checkups, eyeglasses, and medications. Founder of GAF, Mr. Ken George, explained that the program aims to assist Ibadan residents through annual medical outreaches and monthly food distributions to vulnerable families. GAF plans to enroll approximately 1,000 residents in the Oyo State Health Insurance Scheme, at a cost of N130,000 per person annually. The scheme will cover a range of medical expenses. Dr. Musbau Kasumu, head of the medical team, emphasized the importance of avoiding unhealthy foods and maintaining regular medical checkups. President of Rotary Club, Ibadan Jericho Metro, Mr. Afolabi Salisu, highlighted the lack of proper medical access for many Nigerians. The partnership with GAF aims to address this issue by providing essential healthcare services directly to communities.

NO fewer than 1000 residents of Oke-Are area of ​​Ibadan, Oyo State have benefited from the free Health Insurance Scheme (HIS) of George Aid Foundation (GAF) of Nigeria.

The foundation is in partnership with the Rotary Club of Ibadan Metro.

Speaking at the medical outreach organised for residents at Oke-Are Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC), founder of GAF, Mr Ken George, said the essence of the programme is to cater for residents of Ibadan through annual medical outreach and monthly food distribution to 100 families.

The participants also got free dental services, medical checkups, free eyeglasses and drugs, among others.

George said the foundation will enroll about 1,000 Ibadan residents for the Oyo State Health Insurance Scheme.

According to him, the beneficiaries, who are mostly indigenous, will be registered under the health insurance scheme at the cost of N130,000 annually per person.

He said “I grew up in Ibadan and my wife and her families are from Aperin. About five to six years ago, we started this initiative that has now transformed into a yearly medical mission and monthly outreach.

“We will work with the Oyo State Health Insurance Scheme so that after we are long gone, the people can continue to access healthcare.

“The medical outreach will cater for sight, dental issues, blood pressure and so on, while alternative care will also be available,” he said.

Head of the medical team, Dr Musbau Kasumu, urged Nigerians to be wary of eating junks because of the grave implications on their health.

In his remarks, President of Rotary Club, Ibadan Jericho Metro, Mr Afolabi Salisu, noted that Nigerians lack proper medical check-up, thus making it necessary to take it to them.

He said that Rotary Club, in line with its mandate, decided to join the partnership in order to proffer solutions to some of the health challenges facing Nigerians.
