SASKTEL PLAZA OF HONOUR CLASS OF 2024 ANNOUNCED

REGINA, Sask. – The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced on Tuesday their 2024 Plaza of Honour Class. The six-member class includes: *

Ron Lancaster (Player)

Doug Keszler (Player)

Scott Cameron (Player)

*

Dan Farthing (Player/Coach)

*

David Dubas (Builder)

*

Harvey Thomas (Builder)

The six individuals will be inducted into the Plaza of Honour during the Labour Day Classic Weekend, August 31-September 2, 2024 at Mosaic Stadium. Lancaster played 14 seasons with the Roughriders (1963-76) and helped lead the team to Grey Cup championships in 1966 and 1972. He was a five-time Western Division All-Star and a one-time CFL All-Star. Keszler played 10 seasons with the Roughriders (1973-82) and helped lead the team to Grey Cup championships in 1972 and 1976. He was a three-time Western Division All-Star and a two-time CFL All-Star. Cameron played seven seasons with the Roughriders (1976-82) and helped lead the team to Grey Cup championships in 1976 and 1981. He was a one-time Western Division All-Star. Farthing played 10 seasons with the Roughriders (1974-83) and helped lead the team to Grey Cup championships in 1976 and 1981. He was a two-time Western Division All-Star. Farthing also served as the Roughriders’ head coach from 1987-88. Dubas has served as the General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs since 2018. Prior to that, he served as the Assistant General Manager of the Roughriders from 2010-14. Thomas served as the Roughriders’ Team President from 1992-2000. He was instrumental in the construction of Mosaic Stadium and the creation of the Plaza of Honour. The Plaza of Honour was created in 1981 to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the Saskatchewan Roughriders. There are currently 148 members of the Plaza of Honour.2024 SaskTel Plaza of Honour Class Announced The Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club is pleased to announce the 2024 SaskTel Plaza of Honour induction class. The class includes five individuals who have made significant contributions to the Roughriders and the Canadian Football League (CFL). The 2024 SaskTel Plaza of Honour class includes: *

David Barrett

– Barrett played 11 seasons with the Roughriders from 1974 to 1984, winning three Grey Cups (1976, 1981, and 1982). He was a three-time CFL All-Star and was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Canadian in 1979. Barrett is a member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and the Saskatchewan Roughriders Hall of Fame. *

Gerry James

– James played 13 seasons with the Roughriders from 1979 to 1991, winning three Grey Cups (1981, 1982, and 1989). He was a four-time CFL All-Star and was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 1984. James is a member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and the Saskatchewan Roughriders Hall of Fame. *

Simon Keith

– Keith played 11 seasons with the Roughriders from 1987 to 1997, winning two Grey Cups (1989 and 1994). He was a one-time CFL All-Star and was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Canadian in 1994. Keith is a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders Hall of Fame. *

John Murphy

– Murphy played 10 seasons with the Roughriders from 1977 to 1986, winning three Grey Cups (1976, 1981, and 1982). He was a two-time CFL All-Star and was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Canadian in 1982. Murphy is a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders Hall of Fame. *

Roger Taverner

– Taverner was the head coach of the Roughriders from 1971 to 1974, winning one Grey Cup (1972). He was also the head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers from 1975 to 1980, winning two Grey Cups (1976 and 1977). Taverner is a member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and the Saskatchewan Roughriders Hall of Fame. The 2024 SaskTel Plaza of Honour induction ceremony will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan.
