Speaking to the Daily Express, she addressed the 14-year age difference, noting that it wouldn’t be considered significant if the age roles were reversed. “If our ages were the other way around, no one would ever mention it,” Kirkwood said. “I’ve had a few comments but I don’t care. We’ve moved on from the days when he might have been called my toyboy or people called me a cougar.” Kirkwood emphasized that she and Randal are happy together and that their age difference is irrelevant. Kirkwood’s Previous Marriage and Current Happiness Kirkwood was previously married to Scottish businessman Jimmy Kirkwood for 25 years. They ended their relationship in 2008. After her first marriage fell apart, Kirkwood found love again with Steve Randal about seven years ago. Their relationship has been going strong ever since, and they got married in a small intimate wedding on December 27, 2023. Kirkwood is now enjoying her new marriage and is grateful for the happiness it brings her. Naga Munchetty’s Awkward Joke In a recent BBC Breakfast broadcast, Kirkwood’s colleague, Naga Munchetty, made an awkward joke about Kirkwood’s dress. Munchetty joked that she was playing a game by looking at the cloud patterns on Kirkwood’s dress and seeing what shapes she could make out. Kirkwood laughed at the joke but admitted she was curious to hear what Munchetty had seen. Munchetty teased that she would reveal her findings later, leaving Kirkwood amused. Public Reaction to Kirkwood’s Age Difference The age difference between Kirkwood and Randal has sparked some comments and discussions among viewers. While some have expressed discomfort with the situation, others have praised Kirkwood for breaking away from societal norms and embracing her happiness. Regardless of the differing opinions, Kirkwood remains unfazed and content in her relationship with Steve Randal.

Carol has spoken about her new love

BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood has spoken candidly about her new love, revealing some intimate details.

The meteorologist married for the second time after her first marriage “fell apart”. The 62-year-old met police officer Steve Randal about seven years ago and their relationship has been going strong ever since.

Steve and Carol married on December 27 last year in what she called a “small intimate wedding”. Carol was previously married to Scottish businessman Jimmy Kirkwood for 25 years, but they ended their relationship in 2008.

Carol is now talking about the age difference with her new husband – he is 48, which means there is about 14 years between them. She pointed out that the difference wouldn’t be as big if her husband was older.

Speaking to the Daily Express, Carol said: “If our ages were the other way around, no one would ever mention it. I’ve had a few comments but I don’t care. We’ve moved on from the days when he might have been called my toyboy or people called me a cougar. We’re happy together and that’s all that matters.”

This comes after BBC Breakfast colleague Naga Munchetty caused an awkward moment with the weather presenter last week over her choice of dress.

Naga, who was preparing for the weather update, joked, “Carol, have you ever played that game where you lie down and look at the clouds and you see what the shapes are?” Unaware that Naga was alluding to her own cloud-patterned dress, Carol cheerfully replied, “Yes, you often see faces or animals.”

But Naga confessed, “Yeah, well, I did listen to some of what you said, but I was playing that game with your dress.” Carol was surprised by the comment and laughed and said, “I dare not think what you saw, Naga…” Naga teased her that she would reveal her findings later, saying, “I’m going to search all day and find all the shapes.”
