The 4th of July is almost here, and if you’re making plans for Independence Day, you might want to know which stores and businesses will be open—or closed—for the holiday. From shopping to restaurants, here’s what you need to know before you head out for the 4th.
What is open and closed on July 4, 2024:
Restaurants:
These restaurant chains are open on July 4:
- Applebees
- Arby’s
- BJ’s restaurant & Brewery
- Buffalo Wild Wings
- Cheesecake factory
- Chili’s
- IHOP
- McDonald’s
- Olive garden
- Outback Steakhouse
- Starbucks
- Sweet green
- TGI Fridays
- Wendy’s
- Whataburger

Stores:
Most stores and grocery stores will be open on July 4, with the exception of Costco. Others may have shorter or limited hours. Check your local store’s hours. The following stores will be open:
- Aldi (shortened opening hours)
- CVS (shortened hours)
- Dollar General
- HAVE
- DIY store
- Kroger and its sister chains (including Harris Teeter, Ralphs, Fred Meyer and others)
- Lowe’s
- Publix
- Sam’s Club (short hours)
- Goal
- TJ Maxx/Marshalls/Household Goods
- Trader Joe’s (shortened hours)
- Walgreens
- Walmart
- Complete nutrition

Postal and shipping services:
- FedEx: FedEx offices are open with adjusted hours, but FedEx is not providing delivery services, with the exception of Custom Critical and Trade Network deliveries.
- UPS Company: UPS Store locations will be closed on July 4 and no pickup or delivery services will be available, with the exception of UPS Express Critical.
- USPS Delivery: Because the 4th is a federal holiday, the USPS and other non-essential government agencies are closed.
