Leading risk management company RED Corporate Driver Training has launched an innovative online e-Learning programme that enables fleets to train drivers interactively and remotely.

The series features a number of videos from the driver’s perspective, highlighting real-world risks on the road and offering advice on how to manage them and drive better. Each module is followed by an interactive Q&A section to ensure the key messages are taken on board by every driver

These modules and their outcomes are hosted on RED Corporate Driver Training’s new SafetyFirst risk management platform, giving managers and drivers an overview of the training status of all their drivers.

The first six new video modules look at key risk areas for fleet drivers. These are:

  • Driving on highways and motorways
  • Driving in the city
  • Driving on country roads
  • Fatigue
  • Speed awareness
  • Sharing the road

“A comprehensive risk management strategy requires fleets to have all the tools available and our e-learning is an integral part of that,” said Greg Ford, head of corporate at RED Training.

“However, the operating landscape has changed and managers are seeing fewer and fewer drivers, meaning they need risk management tools that ensure safety and compliance wherever those workers are. Our eLearning program solves this increasingly common problem by allowing all drivers to be trained and assessed, regardless of where they are.”

The e-learning modules are designed for use on mobile phones, tablets and desktops. They feature high-definition video, use voice-over and interactive graphics to highlight hazards, signage and other conditions drivers encounter in realistic road driving situations.

“We recognize that for some companies, time is often very limited and they need their drivers on the road and at work,” Ford said. “While the benefits of time spent in the cab with trainers are well proven in terms of increased safety, improved efficiency and better productivity, these interactive e-Learners provide an essential foundation for an effective risk management strategy, ensuring that every employee can be trained and informed to some degree.

“If more training is needed, in-vehicle instruction can do that, building on the good work already done. Our driver training programs provide blended training so that each company gets a clear return on investment against its own risk portfolio, fleet strategy and desired outcomes.

“The SafetyFirst system not only hosts this fresh new e-learning content, but can also provide digital driver license checks, online driver assessments and much more.”
