New Delhi: Marriage is an important and deeply personal union between two individuals, often considered a cornerstone of social and family life. It symbolizes the union of love, trust, and shared responsibilities, and provides a framework for emotional support and partnership. However, despite the best intentions and efforts, some marriages encounter insurmountable challenges that lead to divorce.

Children who experience parental divorce often face a challenging and emotionally turbulent experience. The stability and security they once knew may seem shattered, leading to feelings of confusion, sadness, anger, and fear.

A 15-year-old boy turns to social media users on Reddit for help, asking them how to prevent his parents from getting divorced after their constant fighting.

Viral Reddit Post

“I live with my parents for 15M. They have been fighting since my earliest childhood memories about things that happened before, during and after their marriage. My mother usually starts the fight and my father just stands there and listens and tries to calm her down. She blames him for the mistake he made and his financial situation in the past which led to suffering for both of them (now the financial situation is fine). But recently the fight between them got worse and my mother started crying and it has been like this for 2 months and when I talk about divorce I try my best to help both of them but as a 15 year old it is not really easy. It seems like my father is getting depressed because of all this. After the fight last night which lasted until 3am, they told me today that they are getting divorced and they have spoken to a lawyer. But I feel like they actually love each other and I don’t want them to take that step. How do I stop this from happening? It is destroying me from the inside and my mental health,” the boy wrote on Reddit.

Internet users react

Several social media users came to the boy’s defense. “Leave it. It’s between them. Divorce is too sensitive to interfere. People can love each other and still not be good to each other,” one user wrote. “Don’t stop. Don’t even try. Keep visiting the other parent regularly, without exception,” another user wrote.

“I went through a similar situation, successfully annulled their divorce. But it came at a price, their fights ruined my studies, I lost my self-confidence, my grades, scored poorly in entrance exams, and lived like a failure. Now they blame me for this situation,” read another comment.
