Aggies Add Second 2026 CommitmentAggies Add Second 2026 Commitment Amidst the excitement surrounding Texas A&M’s baseball program, the football team is making significant strides in recruiting for the future. Following the recent commitment from safety Markel Ford, cornerback Ryan Gilbert has also chosen to join the Aggies’ 2026 class. Gilbert, a standout athlete from North Forney High School, showcases impressive speed and agility. Despite his current three-star rating, his potential for growth is evident, and his recruitment could see significant movement as rankings are finalized. This early commitment underscores the Aggies’ commitment to recruiting elite talent from the Metroplex area. After years of lackluster results in this region, Texas A&M is re-establishing its presence through these early commitments. With Gilbert and Ford on board, the Aggies are demonstrating their attractiveness to top prospects in DFW.

At a time when most Aggies would be focusing on Texas A&M football, we’re obsessed with all the news surrounding the boom-bust-bust storyline of the Aggie baseball team. Even when the Maroon and White faithful do focus on news around the field, it usually has to do with the upcoming season or the incoming recruiting class.

But Mike Elko and this Texas A&M football staff don’t work by our clocks or schedules. They do things the way they do, and that apparently means working way ahead of the game while the rest of us are out there loving baseball.

Yes, the Aggies have added their second 2026 commitment in less than a week. After S Markel Ford chose Texas A&M football on June 27, his former Mesquite teammate CB Ryan Gilbert announced today that he would spend his college career alongside him.

Gilbert is a shorter, speedy cornerback who attends North Forney High School. As I mentioned, he played for Mesquite alongside Ford and 2025 Aggie target OT Lamont Rogers.

Gilbert is currently rated as a three-star prospect, but it’s hard to say whether he’ll actually end up there. So far out from final projections, there could be a lot of movement before the rankings are set in stone.

The Aggies are making their presence known in the Metroplex in a big way after several years of disappointing results in that area. Two very early commitments from Ford and Gilbert show that the Aggies are once again making sure that they are on the minds of all prospects in DFW.
