At approximately 7:30 PM, fire crews responded to a report of a fire at the Linden House Mansion, a 30,000 square foot estate built in 1906. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames emerging from the roof. Wearing full gear and using specialized equipment, the firefighters quickly deployed hoses and began an aggressive attack. They encountered intense heat and smoke as they made their way through the burning structure. After a rigorous hour-long battle, the firefighters extinguished the blaze, preventing it from spreading to the rest of the building or nearby structures. Despite the extensive fire damage to the roof and attic, the mansion’s grand architecture and historic beauty were largely preserved. “This was a challenging fire, but the brave actions of our firefighters minimized the damage and ensured the safety of the community,” said Minnetonka Fire Chief John Cadell. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it is believed to have started in the attic. The mansion, which is owned by the Three Rivers Park District, has been undergoing renovations. “We are deeply saddened by the damage to this beloved landmark,” said Todd Anderson, superintendent of the Three Rivers Park District. “We appreciate the extraordinary efforts of the firefighters who saved the building from complete destruction.” The Linden House Mansion is a popular destination for weddings, events, and tours. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is considered one of the most significant examples of Beaux-Arts architecture in Minnesota. The Minnetonka Fire Department would like to remind the public of the importance of fire safety and the need for smoke detectors in all homes.
