The initiative, called “Hope on the West Side,” is a multi-faceted approach that will provide a range of support services and housing options to people experiencing homelessness. “Homelessness is a complex issue that requires a comprehensive response,” said Mayor Keller. “This initiative is a significant step forward in our efforts to provide hope and stability to those who need it most.” The “Hope on the West Side” initiative includes: * Expanding housing options: The City will invest in new affordable housing units, including permanent supportive housing for individuals with chronic homelessness. * Increasing shelter capacity: The City will partner with local organizations to open additional shelter beds and overnight warming centers. * Providing wraparound services: The City will expand access to essential services, such as case management, mental health care, and substance abuse treatment, to help individuals stay stably housed. * Enhancing outreach and prevention: The City will hire additional outreach workers to connect with individuals on the streets and offer support and housing options.
