Residents reported seeing a suspicious package outside the building at 4601 Juan Tabo Blvd NE around 8:30 a.m. The package, described as a small, square box wrapped in brown paper, appeared to have wires protruding from it. Upon arrival, Albuquerque Police Department officers cordoned off the area and evacuated the building as a precaution. The Albuquerque Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials Team was also called to the scene. The bomb squad conducted an investigation and X-rayed the package, but the results were inconclusive. The package was then safely transported to a secure location for further examination. Residents were allowed to return to their apartments around 11:30 a.m. after the evacuation was lifted. No one was injured in the incident, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities have not released any information about the contents of the package or possible suspects. “We take all suspicious packages seriously,” said Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina. “The safety of our community is our top priority.” Albuquerque residents are urged to report any suspicious packages or activity to law enforcement immediately.
