College Alumnus Enjoys Role in Introducing Youth to Public Health Concepts Emily Carter, a recent graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has always had a passion for public health. After completing her undergraduate degree in environmental sciences, she knew that she wanted to use her skills to make a difference in the lives of others. When Emily first learned about the Public Health Scholars Program at Carolina, she was immediately drawn to its mission of providing mentorship and research opportunities to undergraduates interested in pursuing careers in public health. “I was excited about the opportunity to work with faculty and students who share my passion for improving the health and well-being of our communities,” said Emily. As a Public Health Scholar, Emily worked on a variety of projects, including research on the impact of air pollution on children’s health and the development of a new educational program for youth on healthy eating. After graduating from Carolina, Emily joined the team at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences as a public health educator. In this role, she works with students of all ages to teach them about the importance of public health. “I love being able to share my knowledge and passion for public health with young people,” said Emily. “I hope that by introducing them to these concepts at an early age, I can inspire them to make healthy choices and become advocates for public health in their own communities.” Emily’s work with youth has been particularly rewarding. She has seen firsthand how public health education can empower young people to make positive changes in their own lives and the lives of others. “I am so grateful for the opportunity to play a role in introducing youth to public health concepts,” said Emily. “I believe that by investing in our young people, we are investing in the future of public health.” Emily’s story is just one example of how the Public Health Scholars Program at Carolina is making a difference in the lives of students and communities. By providing mentorship, research opportunities, and experiential learning experiences, the program is helping to prepare the next generation of public health leaders.Celtics on the Cusp of Victory: How Boston Can Claim Title on Historic DateCeltics on the Cusp of Victory: How Boston Can Claim Title on Historic Date The Boston Celtics are poised to capture their 18th franchise title on Monday night at TD Garden, holding a 3-1 lead over the Dallas Mavericks.
