On Tuesday afternoon, police responded to reports of a man swimming in the fountain at the Jacksonville Riverwalk. Upon arrival, officers found 35-year-old Stanley Jenkins soaking in the water. According to witnesses, Jenkins had been in the fountain for over an hour, disrobing and washing himself. Several concerned citizens had called the police after becoming alarmed by his behavior. Jenkins initially resisted arrest but was eventually taken into custody. He was charged with disorderly conduct and indecent exposure. Police said that Jenkins admitted to bathing in the fountain to cool off because he was feeling hot and uncomfortable. However, he denied any intentional attempt to expose himself. The incident has sparked outrage among some Jacksonville residents, who view it as a violation of public decency. “This is a family-friendly area,” said local resident Sarah Jones. “It’s disturbing to think that someone would behave so inappropriately in front of children.” City officials are considering increasing security measures around the fountain to prevent similar incidents in the future. Jenkins remains in jail on a $500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
