Crystalbrook Collection, Australia’s largest independent five-star hotel company focused on sustainability, and leading South Australian property developers and steel fabricators, Samaras Group, today broke ground on their new $120 million luxury hotel development, Crystalbrook Sam, in Halifax Street, Adelaide.

Peter Malinauskas MP, Premier of South Australia, joined development leaders including Chris Samaras, Chief Executive Officer, George I. Samaras, Managing Director of Samaras Group, and Geoff York, Chief Executive Officer of Crystalbrook Collection Hotels & Resorts, to celebrate the official start of construction of South Australia’s first Crystalbrook hotel.

Crystalbrook Collection will manage the 13-story, five-star hotel, which features 206 guest rooms and suites, a grand lobby with communal areas, a pool and a fitness center.

Crystalbrook Sam will also house a state-of-the-art multi-purpose meeting and event space, as well as a new food and beverage venue on level 12, showcasing Adelaide’s finest produce. The jewel in the hotel’s crown will be a unique Eléme rooftop bathhouse and day spa, with panoramic views of the Adelaide Hills and CBD. The hotel is scheduled for completion in 2026.

Geoff York, Chief Executive Officer for Crystalbrook Collection, said: “Together with our partners at Samaras Group, we are thrilled to officially celebrate the start of construction on Crystalbrook Sam this morning. We believe this project will transform the Halifax Street location and be a catalyst for Adelaide’s growing status as a leading lifestyle destination.”

“This project marks an exciting and significant expansion for Crystalbrook into one of Australia’s fastest growing towns,” added Mr York.

South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas joined the development team to celebrate the luxury hotel brand’s introduction to Adelaide. He confirmed that the development is a significant new addition that will help grow Adelaide’s $10.2 billion visitor traffic.

“By so many independent measures, we are the best performing economy in the country, and this project will drive significant further growth in our tourism and hospitality sectors,” he said. “The Crystalbrook Sam project will create more than 100 new jobs during the construction period, and an estimated 120 new jobs once the hotel is operational.”
