Despite a slow pace on the 18th hole, Vegas remained steady and calmly sank a short birdie putt. His 1-under-par 70 in the final round secured a total score of 267 (-17), giving him a one-stroke lead over Max Greyserman. Greyserman, a 29-year-old former Duke golfer, had an impressive bogey-free 63 with six birdies on the back nine. However, his second shot from between the trees on the par-5 No. 18 came up just short of tying Vegas. Matt Kuchar, chasing his first victory in five years, had a chance to seize the trophy on the final hole. However, his tee shot went astray, and he settled for par, finishing with a 15-under total and tying for third with Maverick McNealy. Canadian Taylor Pendrith finished fifth at 14 under, while Sahith Theegala’s final-hole bogey cost him a chance at victory and left him in a tie for sixth. Alongside Greyserman, Cameron Champ had the best round of the day with a 63, moving into a shared 12th place. Vegas’s victory marks a resurgence for the Venezuelan golfer, who has struggled with injuries and inconsistent form in recent years. This win is a testament to his perseverance and determination to succeed at the highest level.

Jhonattan Vegas birdied the final hole to earn his first PGA Tour victory in seven years, winning the 3M Open with a 1-under-par 70 in the final round Sunday at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minn.

The Venezuelan attempted an eagle putt from about 30 yards, with the ball rolling slightly over the hole before he tapped in the short birdie putt.

Vegas scored 267 (-17) to take a one-stroke lead over Max Greyserman, who would win for the first time on tour.

Vegas, in the last group, had a long wait before the 18th hole and from there it was still slow going. He didn’t flinch and made his second birdie in the last four holes.

On the final hole, Matt Kuchar also had a chance to take the trophy. His tee shot went off the fairway and he settled for par, finishing at 71 for 15 under for the tournament. He tied for third place with Maverick McNealy (70).

Greyserman had a bogey-free 63, with six birdies on the back nine, the last of which, on the par-5 No. 18, involved a second shot from between the trees on the fairway.

The 29-year-old Greyserman, a former Duke golfer, was playing in just his 22nd PGA Tour event and had only finished in the top 10 twice before that.

Vegas opened Sunday with a bogey on the first hole, allowing Kuchar to become the solo leader with a birdie on the second hole.

There were no big margins on the final day, with four golfers at one point leading the leaderboard at 15 under.

Kuchar wanted to end the five-year drought of victories.

Canadian Taylor Pendrith (67), who led in the second round, recovered from a 73 on Saturday to finish fifth at 14 under.

Sahith Theegala (70) also had a chance on the final hole, but after hitting his second shot into the water, he ended up with a bogey and finished in a tie for sixth place at 13 under par, along with Kurt Kitayama (66) and Patrick Fishburn (70).

Alongside Greyserman, Cameron Champ had the best round of the day. His round of 63 saw him move into a shared twelfth place at 11 under par.
