England midfielder Dennis Abiodun Adeniran, who is eligible to play for Nigeria, has signed for three-time Scottish Cup winners St. Mirren, reports Soccernet.ng.

The 25-year-old has spent the last two years playing in Portugal and Israel but has never really managed to establish himself as a regular starter. However, the prospect of playing European football played a major part in his decision to sign for St Mirren.

The SPFL side have announced on their website official website of the club that the Englishman had signed a one-year contract with the option to extend it for a further year depending on the number of games he plays.

“I’m over the moon to have the deal done. The appeal of European football and the way the manager wants to play, his aspirations for the season, it fits perfectly with what I need at the moment in my career. I’ve spoken to Jaden (Brown). He’s had nothing but good things to say about the club and I went to school with Toyosi (Olusanya) as well so I know them, but all the lads are brilliant. I’m a hard-working player. I like to have the ball at my feet, I’m dynamic and I like to contribute a goal or two,” said the former Everton man after signing for the club

Adeniran was unveiled at St Mirren Park.

Dennis played for England from under-17 to under-19 level. He began his career at Fulham and made his professional debut for the Cottagers in a League Cup tie against Leyton Orient in 2016.

He was born in Southwark, England, to Nigerian parents and is eligible to play for the Super Eagles if the opportunity arises.

Adeniran joined Everton in 2017 and made 56 appearances for their U21 team before being loaned out to Wycombe Wanderers for the 2020/21 season. Following the expiry of his contract with Everton, Dennis joined Sheffield Wednesday, where he would score seven goals in 51 games over two seasons.

He had brief spells with Portuguese Primeira Liga club Portimonense before signing for Israeli club Hapoel Petah Tikva in January.

St Mirren finished 5th in the SPFL last season, meaning they will compete in the Europa Conference League qualifiers next season.
