TOPEKA (KSNT) – On Monday, the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office announced a ticket a driver received after he was pulled over for speeding 116 mph.

On Sunday, July 14, a person driving a silver Dodge was caught going 116 mph on I-70 near Auburn Road. The driver was given a $360 fine and $108 in court costs, for a total of $468.

Earlier this year, 27 News investigated just how bad the speeding problem is in Shawnee County. Police have issued thousands of speeding tickets in Shawnee County over the years, some of which were to drivers who were driving extremely dangerously fast.

Last year, the sheriff’s office issued 289 speeding tickets, six of which were to drivers exceeding 100 mph.
