A long-standing dispute between two groups of elderly people in Chinatown spiralled out of control when a brawl on Saturday night (July 13) left one woman hospitalised.

The conflict started as a verbal dispute over “territory” at the Garden Link Bridge, prompting police to be called in, Shin Min Daily News reported.

A Shin Min reporter arrived at the viaduct after 7 p.m. and got a tip from a reader. He saw about 20 seniors from a dance group at the pavilion and 16 people from a singing group at the nearby covered walkway.

The singing group reportedly blasted songs from loudspeakers, drowning out the dance group’s music and forcing them to stop. Two women from the singing group then began dancing in the pavilion.
