.Project+Bread, State Representatives Celebrate Lowell’s School Meals Program Lowell, MA – June 15, 2023 – Local representatives from .Project+Bread and state Senator Eileen Donoghue and Representative Vanna Howard joined Lowell Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Brenda Cassellius to celebrate the success of the district’s school meals program. Over the past year, Lowell Public Schools has partnered with .Project+Bread to expand access to nutritious school meals for all students in the district. Through this partnership, the district has implemented a number of innovative initiatives, including: * Universal Free Breakfast: All students in Lowell Public Schools now receive free breakfast at school, regardless of their family income. * Grab-and-Go Breakfast: Students can now grab a quick and healthy breakfast on the way to school at designated locations throughout the district. * Lunchroom Makeovers: The district has renovated and upgraded school lunchrooms to create welcoming and inviting dining spaces for students. * Nutrition Education: .Project+Bread has provided nutrition education workshops for students, families, and school staff to promote healthy eating habits. “We are proud to partner with Lowell Public Schools to make sure that all students in the district have access to the nutritious meals they need to succeed in school,” said Ellen Parker, Executive Director of .Project+Bread. “This program is a model for other districts across the state.” “I am so grateful to .Project+Bread for their support of our school meals program,” said Dr. Cassellius. “This partnership has allowed us to make a real difference in the lives of our students.” “Every child deserves to have access to healthy food, regardless of their family income,” said Senator Donoghue. “I am proud to support the Lowell Public Schools school meals program, which is making a real difference in our community.” “School meals are an essential part of a child’s education,” said Representative Howard. “I am glad to see that Lowell Public Schools is committed to providing healthy and nutritious meals to all of its students.”
