Railway operations have also been severely impacted by flooding. On Tuesday, another landslide near Joshimath blocked the Badrinath National Highway. Authorities were clearing the debris from the first landslide when a second occurred, leaving hundreds of people and vehicles stranded. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has inspected the flood-affected areas and conducted an aerial survey of the worst-hit regions. The National Disaster Response Force has rescued over 1,800 people from flooded homes in various districts of Uttarakhand. The blockade on the Badrinath National Highway is causing significant inconvenience to travelers and residents. Authorities are working to clear the debris and restore traffic as soon as possible.

Footage of the incident shows a huge chunk of a hill crumbling and falling on the road, with large rocks blocking the route. Uttarakhand police confirmed the blockade via social media updates.

The Chamoli police also posted an update on their account, saying, “The road near Patalganga Tunnel on Badrinath National Highway is blocked due to a landslide. Please remain patient.”

Uttarakhand has been reeling under heavy rainfall, leading to flood-like conditions in many areas. Over the past three days, successive landslides have disrupted traffic on the highways, with a significant number of roads and national highways blocked by debris. Severe flooding has also paralyzed railway operations in the state.

On Tuesday, a landslide near Joshimath caused a blockade on the Badrinath National Highway. The highway was blocked in the morning and while authorities were clearing the debris, another landslide occurred.

The landslide left hundreds of people and vehicles stranded on both sides of the road.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday inspected the flood-affected areas and conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in Kumaon region, including the worst-affected areas of Haldwani, Banbasa, Tanakpur, Sitarganj and Khatima.

A total of 1,821 people have been rescued from their flooded homes by the National Disaster Response Force in Sitarganj and Khatima areas of Udham Singh Nagar district and Purnagiri area of ​​Champawat district, PTI said.
