Sony Xperia 1 VI specifications and features
The latest Mark VI version of Sony’s Xperia flagship smartphone still features the iconic sleek candybar design, but there are several notable differences. Instead of a 4K 21:9 display, the Xperia 1 VI now gets a 6.5” 120Hz Full HD+ OLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while the rear panel uses Gorilla Glass Victus.
Under the hood, it’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and the device has a built-in Game Enhancer with FPS Optimizer to optimize CPU usage and frame rates based on your gaming environment. As you’d expect from a Sony Xperia 1 flagship, the device still gets microSD card expansion and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Also included is a pair of full stage stereo speakers.
In terms of imaging, the Xperia 1 VI gets a triple camera setup for the rear, which consists of a 52MP f/1.8 shooter that uses a 1/1.35” Exmor T sensor and offers both 24mm and 48mm focal lengths. In addition, it also gets a 12MP f/2.2 (16mm) ultra-wide camera and a 12MP telephoto camera with a variable periscope setup. This telephoto camera offers a continuous optical zoom range between 3.5x (85mm) and 7.1x (170mm). Meanwhile, the front retains a 12MP selfie shooter.
The Xperia 1 VI can still record 4K video at up to 120fps, and still has a dedicated shutter button on the side. To ensure your human subjects are always in focus, the device also integrates Sony’s human pose estimation technology from its Alpha 9 Mark III camera.
Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery that Sony claims will last for up to 2 days with normal usage. It supports PD fast charging over USB-C, and Sony estimates that you can charge up to 50% in just 30 minutes. With the charge optimization feature, Sony claims that users can expect to retain at least 80% of the maximum capacity for up to 4 years of use.
