The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to multiple reports of a personal injury crash on the 1200 block of South Reisner Street at around 12:30 a.m. According to IMPD, at least one person died in the accident. Investigators believe a man suspected of driving under the influence was speeding at approximately 90 mph when he collided with another vehicle. The crash injured the pregnant driver of the second vehicle and two children who were passengers. The driver of the second vehicle was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in stable condition, while the children were taken to Riley Hospital. One child is listed in critical condition, while the other is reported as stable. A male passenger in the suspect vehicle was ejected from the car and found in a nearby ditch. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. The IMPD arrested the driver on the spot after a confrontation with officers. The man was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and faces multiple charges. Apart from the two vehicles directly involved in the collision, six other parked vehicles were also damaged on Reisner Street. According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to multiple reports of a personal injury crash in the 1200 block of South Reisner Street just after 12:30 p.m. Police say at least one person died in the crash.
Investigators believe a man suspected of driving under the influence was driving at a high rate of speed, reaching speeds of about 90 mph. The driver crashed into a second vehicle, injuring a pregnant woman who was driving and two children in her car.
The woman was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in stable condition, police said. Meanwhile, the children were taken to Riley Hospital, one of whom is in critical condition. The other child is said to be in stable condition, police said.
Investigators say a male passenger in the suspect vehicle was thrown from the car and found in a nearby ditch. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Investigators do not believe he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
According to police, the driver was arrested on the spot after a fight with officers.
In addition to the two vehicles involved in the crash, six other vehicles were hit on Reisner Street, police said.
