Maguire started strong with an opening-round 66 and maintained her lead with rounds of 72 and 73, finishing the tournament at 8 under. Maria Hernandez was a stroke behind Maguire, and Alison Lee, Lauren Walsh, and Georgia Hall tied for third at 6 under. The highlight of the tournament came when Maguire made a dramatic shot on the par-5 18th hole, hitting her hybrid ball onto the lip of the hole and rolling it onto the green. This gave her the opportunity to make a putt and secure the victory, which she did under pressure. This victory is Maguire’s first on the LET, joining her two previous wins on the LPGA. Her last victory was over a year ago at the 2023 Meijer LPGA Classic.

Leona Maguire started the Ladies European Tour’s Aramco Team Series London event strongly this week and needed a strong finish to secure victory at the Centurion Club.

Maguire shot an opening-round 66 and then cruised home with rounds of 72 on Thursday and 73 on Friday to claim the individual title at the event, finishing the 54-hole tournament at 8 under. Maria Hernandez was a stroke behind Maguire and the trio of Alison Lee, Lauren Walsh and Georgia Hall finished in a tie for third at 6 under.

But this was no ordinary finish.

Walsh, who is originally from Ireland but attended Wake Forest, shot a 65 to take a long lead. Then Hernandez birdied the par-5 18th hole to take the lead at 7 under.

At 6 under par, Maguire made the shot of the tournament by hitting her hybrid ball onto the lip of the hole just to the left, watching it roll onto the green and giving her a chance to make a putt and seal the victory.

With the pressure on, Maguire made the putt to beat Hernandez, the victory marking her first on the LET, joining a pair of victories on the LPGA. Her last victory came more than a year ago at the 2023 Meijer LPGA Classic.
