Arsenal’s Quest for Premier League Glory: Aiming for a Perfect SeasonArsenal’s Quest for Premier League Glory: Aiming for a Perfect Season Arsenal has endured a challenging period in recent seasons, narrowly missing out on the Premier League title to Manchester City. However, the Gunners are determined to break this streak in the 2024-25 season, their sights set on winning their first league championship since 2004. Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, has set a lofty goal for his team, aiming for a perfect season with a remarkable 114 points. In the previous season, Manchester City claimed the title with 89 points, highlighting the level of competition that Arsenal must surpass. Arteta believes that a perfect season is achievable, stating that “114 wins it, and then you start from there.” He emphasizes the importance of focusing on individual games and building confidence in his players. Arsenal’s squad boasts the potential to win the league, but reinforcements are needed to ensure they can maintain their dominance throughout the season. Speculation surrounds the acquisition of Riccardo Calafiori, a Bologna defender, as well as a striker and midfielder. Historical achievements provide a glimpse into the magnitude of Arsenal’s task. Manchester City once recorded 100 points in a season, while Manchester United managed 75 points to claim the title in 1996-97. Arsenal’s aspiration to win all 38 league games would be an unprecedented feat. Despite the challenges posed by rivals like Manchester City, Arsenal remains optimistic. They know that consistency and squad depth will be essential in achieving their goal. The upcoming summer transfer period will be crucial in strengthening their team and giving them the edge needed to secure a perfect season and the coveted Premier League trophy.

Arsenal have missed out on the Premier League title for the past two seasons to Manchester City, but next season they will finally want to go one step further and win the title for the first time since 2004.

The Gunners lost the title by two points to Man City last season and fall five points short in the 2022-23 season.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be hoping to significantly improve his points tally in 2024-25 after Man City won the 2022-23 title with 89 points, which was only good enough for second place last season. The Spaniard will be aiming for a perfect season to do just that.

“I told you anything under 90 points wouldn’t work,” the North London manager replied when asked by ESPN how many points Arsenal need to win the league.

“Let’s start with 114 and see what we get.

“One hundred and fourteen (the maximum number of points available) wins it and then you start from there. You know the margins are really, really small and tight and the competition is going to be even tougher than last season.

“You go game by game, earn the right to win every game, that’s all we can think of, and try to improve our players. And make them believe that they can do it, because they are good enough now to do it.”

Man City recorded their most points (100) in a Premier League season in 2017-18, while 75 points was enough for Manchester United to win the title in 1996-97.

Arsenal want to win all 38 league games next season. It has never been achieved before, but it can never be ruled out, no matter how difficult it seems.

In the 2003–04 season they were undefeated, collecting 90 points after 26 wins and 12 draws.

No team has won more than 32 league games in a single season and Arsenal will need to play at the top level in every game to break the records set by Manchester City (in 2017-18 and 2018-19) and Liverpool (in 2019-20).

The Gunners have a squad capable of winning the Premier League, but they will need to strengthen their squad further if they are to win all 38 league games next season.

This requires unprecedented selection depth and each department will have to be strengthened with the right players and qualities during the upcoming summer transfer period.

Arsenal have set their sights on Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori and are also looking to add a striker and midfielder to their ranks.

The North Londoners believe they have a shot at the title next season, but it won’t be easy with Manchester City and co standing in their way.
