A motorist told how she was forced to make a U-turn when she thought she saw a human head on the side of the road.

TikToker @bw2000_x posted footage of the road as she drove through it. The overlaid text read: “POV—you had to make a U-turn back onto Wally Hall Avenue to make it clear if what you saw was a hedgehog or a human head x.”

As she drove down the road, the strange object caught her attention. Concerned and confused, she turned to confirm the sighting.

Luckily, upon closer inspection of the 21-second clip, which has been liked more than 150,000 times, she discovered what it was: a doll’s head.

After the video went viral on TikTok, it received a lot of reactions from viewers.

“I’m CRYING,” Mils said. While Lor wrote, “Totally would have been traumatized if I was her, even though that looks so real.”

“I didn’t have my glasses on and I was gasping for breath so hard,” wrote yellow.paper.url.

And TikToker Moonstone87 said they experienced the same thing: “I saw this this morning on my way to work, I almost had a heart attack until I realized what it was.”

“No, I saw that this afternoon and thought exactly the same thing. Thanks for the clarification,” Charlotte added.

While this unusual object caused some hilarity along the road, road debris can also pose a serious problem.

According to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, road debris was a factor in an estimated average of 50,658 police-reported crashes per year from 2011 to 2014. These incidents resulted in approximately 9,805 injuries and 125 deaths annually in the U.S.

They also found that debris accidents occurred about four times more often on highways and that drivers involved in these types of accidents were 20 percent more likely to be male.

The most common types of debris are loose vehicle parts, loose cargo such as furniture and appliances falling onto the road, and trailers coming loose. More than one in three debris-related accidents occur between 10:00 and 15:59, when many people are on the road transporting or moving heavy objects.

This isn’t the first time a mannequin head has gotten viral attention. In 2023, a man made people laugh when he planned a surprise for future residents of his home by placing a mannequin head in the crawl space. “Someone’s gonna have a heart attack,” one viewer of the prank said online, while another said, “That’s…that’s just mean, man.”
