Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) (India), July 1 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party MP Laxmikant Bajpai on Sunday met three fraud victims who were rescued from Uganda and brought back to India.
A total of seven victims went to Uganda for work purposes, of which three were rescued by the Embassy of India in Uganda and sent back to India. The remaining four are yet to come to India, said BJP MP.
Speaking to ANI about the incident, BJP MP Laxmikant Bajpai said, “I got the news that seven people from Meerut, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Roorkee and Patna had gone to Uganda in March to work in GM Sugar Industry and HK Sugar Industries. They received only one month’s salary and did not even have the means to eat. Extortioners threatened to pay Rs 5 lakhs to go to India or they would have burnt those seven people in the cauldron.

“On this matter, I spoke to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (EAM) and with his help, after submitting the document, the embassy officials in Uganda contacted these seven people. After a series of discussions it was decided that they would all be sent to India. The embassy arranged food, shelter and tickets for three people. They were sent to India after being issued tickets,” he added.
Highlighting the remaining four persons, he claimed, “Discussions are still ongoing regarding the remaining four persons. I have spoken to EAM and the officials of the Embassy in Uganda. I have also spoken to one of the four persons, they are worried and tensed. I have appealed to EAM to bring them back to India.”
Appealing to the public, Bajpai said, “I appeal to the public who do not go abroad just for money. In cases where they suffer from brutality, I advise them to avoid visiting abroad. Go on favorable terms, otherwise you can work in India while being with family.” (ANI)
