One day after the Tour de France made its first Big departure from Italy in the history of the race, stage 2 of the race continued through Italy and ended in Bologna.

French rider Kevin Vauquelin won the day on stage 2, making it two consecutive days with a French rider winning the stage. Vauquelin’s victory also gave his team – Arkéa – B&B Hotels – its first Tour de France stage win in 11 attempts.

Unlike Stage 1, in which almost 50 riders finished within five seconds of the leader, Vauquelin finished Stage 2 almost 40 seconds ahead of the next closest competitor, Norwegian cyclist Jonas Abrahamsen.

This is what the 2024 Tour de France rankings look like after two days of racing.
