Betty Irabo, founder of Genevieve Magazine, made the confirmation on her X-handle on Sunday evening, dispelling rumors of the actor’s death.

Emeka Rollas, the Chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, in a phone conversation with our reporter, also confirmed that Olu Jacobs is alive.

“I just called the family and confirmed Olu Jacobs is still alive,” Rollas told BusinessDay.

A live video has surfaced online further dispelling the rumors surrounding the actor’s death.

Jacobs has made a mark in the Nigerian film industry with over 50 years of experience, sharing the screen with both the old and new generation of actors.

In 2007, Jacobs won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

He was honoured with the Industry Merit Award for his exceptional acting performance at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), for his dedication to his acting career that spans over five decades.

Jacobs has been married to Nollywood actress Joke Silva since 1989; and they have two children.
