Ela, Hotel Alba’s dining destination, is about to embark on its first Winter Wine Series. These events will showcase prominent South Australian wineries from July to September. The series aims to showcase the region’s rich wine-growing offering through a curated gastronomic experience.
The first event in the series starts on Friday 26 July and will focus on McLaren Vale’s Vigna Bottin. This opening night will set the tone for the dinners, each pairing an exquisite menu with fine wines from local vineyards. According to Samantha Farrington, Managing Director of Ela, this initiative aims to capture the essence of the Mediterranean during Adelaide’s colder months. “We serve a mouth-watering selection of fresh, seasonal sharing plates that represent the best of the Mediterranean,” she stated. “Paired with great South Australian wines, it’s a treat no one will want to miss.”
Following Vigna Bottin, another McLaren Vale icon, Gemtree Wines will be on display on Friday, August 23. As spring approaches, the focus shifts to The Lane Vineyard, representing the Adelaide Hills on Friday, September 20. Details for the final showcase, featuring Barossa Valley side Seppeltsfield, will be confirmed in the coming months.
Each of these exclusive events is hosted by ela’s chef Nigel Rich, together with prominent winemakers in ela’s private dining room. The intimate setting, with a capacity of just 26 guests, gives attendees a more personal insight into the nuanced food and wine pairings.
In addition to the dinner series, ela’s offers an Express Lunch Menu, available Monday through Friday from 12:00 to 14:00, with a new signature dish each week. The lunch also includes a drink for just $39 per person. For those visiting the poolside venue on the weekend, ela’s presents a Bottomless Lunch on Saturdays and Sundays, which includes a deluxe three-course meal and a two-hour drinks package. This includes bottomless prosecco, mimosas, gin mixers, draft beers and soft drinks.
