Cleveland’s Butter Sculpture Unveiled: A Dairy-Themed MasterpieceCleveland’s Butter Sculpture Unveiled: A Dairy-Themed Masterpiece Each year, the Ohio State Fair becomes a canvas for talented artists who transform thousands of pounds of butter into intricate sculptures. This year, the spotlight shines upon Cleveland, the birthplace of rock and roll, for its captivating butter masterpiece. The sculpture, standing at over 20 feet tall and weighing 1,000 pounds, depicts the iconic “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” building alongside a towering guitar. The intricate details of the building’s exterior, including its glass pyramid and rotating antenna, are meticulously carved into the butter. The guitar monument, complete with strings and frets, pays homage to the city’s musical legacy. The body of the guitar is adorned with images of legendary Cleveland musicians, such as The O Jays, The Raspberries, and the late David Bowie. Master sculptor Jim Victor, who has been creating butter sculptures for over 30 years, spent days crafting this dairy-themed masterpiece. He used a combination of chisels, knives, and his own hands to shape the butter into the desired forms. “It’s a labor of love,” said Victor. “I wanted to capture the essence of Cleveland’s rock and roll history and create something that would make the city proud.” The butter sculpture has become a highly anticipated tradition at the Ohio State Fair, drawing thousands of visitors each year. It serves as a testament to the state’s agricultural heritage and the creativity of its artists. “We’re thrilled with this year’s Cleveland sculpture,” said Ohio State Fair General Manager Virgil Strickler. “It’s a stunning piece that celebrates our city’s rich musical and cultural history.” The butter sculpture will be on display at the Ohio State Fair throughout the 12-day event, which runs from July 27th to August 7th, 2023.
